AI agents have been getting a fair share of attention in the recent AI hype cycles. And there's just reason for it. The idea that you could employ and deploy autonomous AI agents to manage complex tasks with simple text commands is a powerful concept. It's a big driver in us shifting from a knowledge economy to an allocation economy.
So what is an AI agent? It's an AI system that can both create and fulfill chains of tasks autonomously. Rudimentarily, this can look like an AI agent booking you travel tickets or gathering data across the web from a simple text command. This is powerful when you think about how this is essentially a description of the manager and employee relationship, but in this context, we're all the managers and AI is the employee.
There's been ongoing rumors of OpenAI getting into the AI agent space as well, which is a strong validator for this technology coming to market in a consumer-friendly package sooner rather than later. ChatGPT has already been doing some of this work with multi-modal functionality (e.g. web search, image reading, etc.) in one context window.
So with all the hype, I decided to take an AI agent product currently on the market - Lindy.AI - for a spin to see where we're at with AI agents and what the future might hold. I was impressed to say the least.
Below is a quick video of me working with a "Lead Generator Lindy" (Lindy AI's name for an AI agent) to generate leads for my AI and No Code consulting business. The Lindy agent was quick, accurate and impressive. It found ten relevant leads, provided me emails and LinkedIn profiles for each and added them all to a Google Spreadsheet. It did this all from one text command. I can imagine connecting this to Zapier and automating email outreach from there.
Cost could be prohibitive in the short run, but like all things in the space, I imagine that coming down over time. I'm excited to see how AI agents shape the future of work.
If you want to automate your work but don't know where to get started, No Code Camp can help you go from 0-1. Take a look at our cohort course, and if you're ready to turn your ideas into reality (without coding!), you can get started below.
